Job Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing complex projects within SHL Medical. He or she will work closely with team members to ensure project requirements, deadlines, and schedules are always on track. Key responsibilities include planning, budgeting, resource allocation, project risk management, and team leadership.

This role involves managing major/complex projects and leading various disciplines to execute required deliverables under a highly regulated environment. It requires disciplined leaders who can interact with customers, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional team leads from project initiation through the entire design and development process.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage the design and development of complex mechanical medical devices and equipment.
  • Maintain project oversight over all disciplines, ensuring individual discipline leaders understand customer objectives and their responsibilities to the specific project.
  • Escalate any issues as appropriate to higher-level management.
  • Understand Voice of the Customer and User Needs.
  • Interact with customers, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional team leads throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Define project scope, objectives, and major milestones in alignment with sponsors and internal program/product managers.
  • Forecast resources needed to achieve objectives and assemble a project team with the required skills and experience.
  • Develop a budget based on the scope of work and resource requirements, tracking project costs to meet the budget.
  • Work with the project team to create a detailed project schedule and work plan.
  • Coordinate internal resources and third-party vendors for seamless project execution.
  • Monitor project performance to identify areas for improvement and make necessary adjustments.
  • Perform project risk management to minimize project risks and escalate identified risks at an early stage.
  • Manage changes to the project scope, schedule, and costs, ensuring all parties are informed of the impacts of planned changes.
  • Organize and lead regular project team meetings to discuss project status, current issues, and possible solutions.
  • Provide project updates regularly to various stakeholders about deliverables, required adjustments, and overall progress.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 5 years' experience in project management.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience with various manufacturing processes, including injection molding of plastics, machining methods, rapid prototyping techniques, etc.
  • Understanding of Human-Centered Industrial Design & Usability research activities and their interface with engineering.
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering development processes utilizing 3D CAD.
  • PMP Certification is a plus.
  • Profound knowledge of project management processes, methodologies, and tools & techniques, with the ability to adapt them to the organization.
  • Advanced time and risk management skills.
  • Ability to encourage and enable people to work together as a team to achieve common goals.
  • Ability to influence decisions that need to be made to ensure project success.
  • Excellent knowledge of performance evaluation and change management principles.
