Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Pharmacy is responsible for overseeing the administrative, operational, and clinical activities at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland. This role encompasses all aspects of pharmacy operations, including budgeting, planning, organization, staffing, and evaluation, as well as the supervision of a significant number of staff and clinical pharmacists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to improve pharmacy services and operations
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the pharmacy department, including staff supervision and performance evaluation
  • Collaborate with senior management to set objectives and develop policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including USP 797 and USP 800 regulations
  • Develop and manage budgets and financial plans for the pharmacy department
  • Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and technology to optimize medication use and patient care
Requirements
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm D) or equivalent training required
  • Post-graduate training in pharmacy practice or hospital administration, or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum of seven years of experience as a licensed pharmacist in a medical center/hospital pharmacy
  • Minimum of five years of management experience or demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills in a medical center pharmacy or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional advanced degrees (i.e., M.B.A., MPH, or MHA) preferred
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EPIC preferred)
  • Experience in the use of robotics and technology in drug delivery systems
Physical Requirements

  • Reach: Up to 6 hours
  • Rep Use of UE/Grasp: Up to 6 hrs
