Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for providing a restorative healing experience for the patient and the patient's support systems in transformational partnership with the Clinical Manager and the interdisciplinary team.

As an accountable professional, the Registered Nurse exercises autonomy, authority, and control to ensure excellent patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Assessment: Demonstrates autonomy in practice by performing a thorough and ongoing holistic nursing assessment, including appropriate admission assessment of patient and patient support systems.
  • Patient Care/Discharge Planning: Collaborates with patient, patient support systems, and appropriate health care team members to meet the patient's present needs, discharge needs, and outcomes identified for key problems.
  • Teaching: Empowers patients and support systems with individualized, ongoing teaching throughout the continuum of care.
  • Communication: Demonstrates mutual respect and collaboration when communicating with the interdisciplinary health care team.
  • Treatment/Procedures: Performs all treatments and procedures in accordance with established evidence-based policies, procedures, and patient care standards.
  • Documentation: Accurately documents pertinent patient information using the nursing process on all required forms or fields/screens to ensure effective communication and excellent patient outcomes.
  • Medication Administration: Provides all aspects of the medication process, including assessment, administration, monitoring, and evaluation of the patient's response to the medication.
  • Quality Performance and Improvement (QPI): Actively participates in the QPI process to achieve excellent patient outcomes and improved processes.
  • Delegation to and Development of Co-workers: Accurately delegates aspects of patient care to LPN, CNA, and other ancillary personnel according to their Scope of Practice, job description, individual competence, and patient needs.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Basic knowledge of nursing theory and practice.
  • Knowledge of appropriate technology and practice standards for the area of responsibility.
  • Demonstrates sound clinical skills, knowledge of Hospital structure, objectives, and standards of practice, positive communication skills.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, currently licensed in the State of New York, or permittee.
  • New York State Registered Nurse license required, or permittee.
