The Role

We are seeking an exceptional Strategic Benefits Director to lead the Employee Benefits Division. This individual will be responsible for creating and setting short and long-term benefits strategies, ensuring daily operations and compliance of the benefits department. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record in strategic benefit planning and management, with a strong command of Health and Welfare plan compliance and reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design, implement, and renew Master Plans for clients.
  2. Ensure plan compliance and reporting requirements, including ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, PPACA, and ERISA.
  3. Establish and maintain relationships with insurance companies.
  4. Develop innovative solutions for health and welfare, wellness, retirement, and life and disability plans.
  5. Partner with other businesses for strategic alternatives.
  6. Maintain DecisionHR-administered Client-Sponsored Benefits.
  7. Monitor implementation of benefit technology and file feeds to carriers and vendors.
  8. Collaborate with the President on decisions to enhance margins within the department.
  9. Provide oversight and leadership to the DecisionHR Team during customer renewals and new business strategies.
  10. Lead client-facing aspects of annual healthcare open enrollment.
  11. Guide clients on effective and compliant choices of health, dental, and vision benefits, voluntary, and disability benefits.
  12. Oversee new client onboarding, Accounts Payable, audits, COBRA, commissions, and Carrier billings and refunds.
  13. Manage 401k compliance and administration.
  14. Develop and manage benefit staff.

Requirements

  • BS/BA Degree and 10+ years of experience in strategic benefit planning and management.
  • 5+ years' benefits experience with an insurance agency, carrier, PEO, or consulting firm.
  • 2-15 Florida Health & Life Agent License.
  • Strong client relationship and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to lead conversations with executive-level client contacts.
  • Excellent analytical and financial modeling skills.
  • Negotiation and problem-solving skills.
