Tax Senior Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Senior to join our team at Ascendo. As a Tax Senior, you will be responsible for preparing and reviewing complex tax returns, providing tax planning and consulting services, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Preparation and Review: Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and other entities. Ensure all returns are accurate, complete, and filed on time.
- Tax Research and Planning: Conduct thorough tax research, interpret tax laws and regulations, and provide proactive tax planning strategies. Identify opportunities for tax savings and advise clients accordingly.
- Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, building and maintaining strong relationships. Communicate complex tax concepts clearly.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure all tax filings comply with applicable laws and regulations. Identify potential tax risks and provide recommendations to mitigate those risks.
- Supervision and Mentoring: Oversee the work of junior tax staff, providing guidance, feedback, and training as needed. Review their work for accuracy and compliance.
- Tax Planning Strategies: Assist clients with year-end tax planning, estimated tax payments, and other tax-related matters. Develop and implement strategies that align with clients' financial goals.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current on changes in tax laws, regulations, and industry trends. Apply this knowledge to client engagements and share insights with the team.
- Business Development: Assist in identifying new business opportunities, preparing proposals, and expanding client relationships.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree in Taxation or a related field is a plus.
- Certification: CPA license is required. Progress toward or completion of advanced tax certifications (e.g., MST, MBT, EA) is advantageous.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in public accounting with a focus on tax services.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software, MS Office Suite, and accounting systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently under tight deadlines.
