Tradesworker I

We are seeking a skilled Tradesworker I to join our team in the Roads and Bridges division of Indian River County Board of County Commissioners. As a Tradesworker I, you will perform various maintenance activities using general maintenance, carpentry, asphalt, and masonry skills to repair/install, drainage pipes into drainage structures, sidewalks, roadway repairs, or a combination of these skills for the maintenance of County infrastructure within road rights-of-way or on County property.

• Repair sidewalks as needed by removing, forming, pouring, and finishing concrete.
• Repair uneven sidewalks by grinding the existing concrete.
• Perform duties as needed to place hot mix asphalt in large patches or potholes within roadways.
• Perform guardrail maintenance and repairs as needed.
• Remove and replace drainage pipe and structures as needed.
• Repair or replace irrigation systems as needed.
• Construct concrete or rip-rap headwalls as needed using various types of construction techniques.
• Construct various types of stormwater inlets as needed.

• High school graduate or GED and five years of working experience related skilled labor in the construction industry.
• Must possess a valid Class E Driver's License.

Work is performed outside under various types of weather conditions.
