At Orono Public Schools, we are seeking a skilled and dedicated School Nurse Specialist to join our team. As a substitute licensed school nurse, you will work across all school buildings on an on-call and as-needed basis.

About the Role

This position involves performing skilled nursing procedures, delegating nursing care procedures when appropriate, and monitoring and supervising delegation using clear written plans for delegates to follow. You will also be responsible for interpreting health findings for educational staff regarding the impact of health concerns on learning and accommodations required at school.

Responsibilities
  • Skilled Nursing Procedures: Perform various nursing procedures, including medication administration, wound care, and other medical interventions as needed.
  • Nursing Delegation: Delegate nursing tasks to certified nursing assistants or other qualified personnel, ensuring that they have the necessary training and support to perform their duties effectively.
  • Health Findings Interpretation: Provide educational staff with accurate and timely information about student health conditions, allowing them to make informed decisions about accommodations and support.
Requirements
  • A valid Minnesota Registered Nurse License is required.
  • You must possess current CPR certification for Healthcare Professionals and First Aid certification.
  • An ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing is essential.
  • Collaboration and problem-solving skills are crucial for success in this role.
Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary for this position is approximately $56,304, based on an estimated 1,800 hours worked per year. This figure takes into account the hourly rate of $26.90 and assumes a standard full-time schedule.
