As a Patient Care Associate, you will work under the supervision of a licensed nurse to provide basic care and assigned procedures for patients based on their specific needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct and indirect patient care responsibilities as assigned by the charge nurse.
Answer patient call lights and relay messages to nursing staff as necessary.
Pass food trays, ice, or linen to patient rooms.
Take vital signs and ensure patient safety.
Answer telephone calls and page nursing staff as needed.
Enter written orders into the electronic medical record and complete related forms.
Perform responsibilities related to the safe disposal of hazardous pharmaceutical waste.
Scan records to the appropriate department as necessary.
Maintain patient charts and add forms, post reports as needed.
Assist the Director or Clinical Manager with departmental clerical duties as required.
Order and/or put up department supplies as needed.
Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent required (on or after June 1, 2013).
BLS certification must be obtained within the orientation period and kept current while in this position.
No prior experience required.
