Job Summary

The Fleet Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of fleet equipment at one or more locations, managing a team of technicians, and ensuring that all repairs and maintenance are performed in compliance with safety and maintenance standards. This role requires a strong understanding of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems, as well as the ability to manage a team and prioritize tasks effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direction to technicians and lead technicians to ensure that all repair and maintenance work is performed safely, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the planning and scheduling of all repair work to increase productivity and manage overtime effectively.
  • Monitor shop performance and efficiency, taking action to redirect activities as necessary.
  • Manage lead technicians and maintenance supervisors, including overseeing daily shop huddles, fleet walks, and coaching and counseling on performance and corrective action.
  • Maintain an ongoing preventive maintenance program for assigned locations, identifying trends in road calls and break downs, and controlling maintenance costs.
  • Manage outside repair facilities and repairs, ensuring that all work is properly completed in accordance with safety and compliance procedures and federal and state regulations.
  • Conduct quality control inspections, track issues, and issue resolution to ensure that all work is properly completed and in accordance with safety and compliance procedures and federal and state regulations.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Maintenance Supervisor in the transportation industry, with a thorough knowledge and application of safe working practices, including OSHA Haz Com, OSHA Lock Out Tag Out, and OSHA Fire Safety.
  • Advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to anticipate business needs and plan accordingly.
  • High level of analytical skill to develop a range of possible solutions to address a wide range of issues.
  • Organizational skills and ability to collaborate and encourage employee engagement.
  • Good financial management and planning skills, with the ability to understand financial terms, budgets, tables, and reports.
