Physician Assistant

The Physician Assistant will provide high-quality patient care under the direction of a supervising physician. Responsibilities may include managing patients in various settings, such as the office, hospital, ED, and perioperative setting. The Physician Assistant may be required to First Assist in the OR or perform other department-specific procedures.
Essential Responsibilities:
The Physician Assistant will practice as part of a team under the direction of their supervising physician. Primary duties will include examining patients, performing comprehensive physical examinations, and compiling patient medical data. The Physician Assistant will also administer or order diagnostic tests, such as imaging studies, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interpret test results for deviations from normal.
The Physician Assistant will perform therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care, and managing infection. They will also perform other department-specific diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Additionally, the Physician Assistant will develop and implement patient management plans, record progress notes, and assist in the provision of continuity of care.
The Physician Assistant will instruct and counsel patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance and other relevant patient education. Based on the specific specialty, additional duties may include facilitating admissions, transfers, discharges, First assisting in surgeries, or performing procedures as applicable.
Secondary Functions:
The Physician Assistant may be required to have experience and competency in performing specific tasks required by the department. They must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment. Fluoroscopy Permit may be required, or must be obtained within 18 months from the date of hire in Orthopedics, Interventional Radiology, and Radiation Oncology only.
Basic Qualifications:
Graduate from an ARC-PA accredited physician assistant program by start date. Physician Assistant License (California) required at hire. Physician Assistant National Certificate required at hire. Basic Life Support. National Provider Identifier required at hire.
Additional Requirements:
The Physician Assistant must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment. May be required to have experience and competency in performing specific tasks required by the department. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to prioritize tasks effectively. Fluoroscopy Permit may be required, or must be obtained within 18 months from the date of hire in Orthopedics, Interventional Radiology, and Radiation Oncology only.
