Job Summary:

The Admissions Transfer Nurse RN plays a vital role in facilitating the smooth transition of patients to our facility. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating transfer requests from referral sources, ensuring compliance with EMTALA and facility guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • You will receive all inquiry calls and respond promptly, gathering relevant information and passing it on to the receiving unit or physician as needed.

  • Your exceptional documentation, communication, teamwork, and customer service skills will enable you to advocate for internal and external customers, including clients, families, physicians, medical facilities, behavioral healthcare facilities, and managed care organizations.

  • Liaising with physicians, psychiatrists, other facilities, and managed care organizations, you will promote optimal use of the continuum of care for each individual transferred.

  • You will enter relevant information into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for patients arriving on shift requiring admission, including order entry for telephone orders given by admitting physicians and medication entry.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • A strong understanding of psychiatric behavioral health diagnostic criteria (DSM IV/V)

  • Quality assessment skills, including listening and writing legibly

  • An ability to provide customer service in a caring manner, even in high-stress environments

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of COBRA/EMTALA laws

Education and Experience:

You should be a graduate of an accredited nursing school and hold a Texas license as an RN. A minimum of 1 year of mental health experience is required, with prior experience as a supervisor in transfer coordination being preferred.

Compensation:

">

The estimated salary for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 per year, based on industry standards and location.

Work Environment:

">

This role requires you to be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs, work under stressful conditions, and sit for extended periods at a computer terminal. You must also have sufficient hearing and vision to perform essential activities and be able to distinguish letters and symbols for reviewing clinical documentation.
