Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highway Technician Senior to join our team at the State of Iowa. As a key member of our highway maintenance team, you will be responsible for leading daily operations, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance of our roadways.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct a team of highway maintenance technicians
  • Coordinate work schedules and prioritize tasks to ensure efficient use of resources
  • Oversee traffic control for maintenance activities and ensure safe working conditions
  • Coordinate snow operations and operate snow equipment as needed
  • Administer monthly safety huddles with team members and support internal CDL training efforts
  • Respond to emergency situations such as accidents or emergency repairs
Requirements
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with required endorsements and restrictions
  • Ability to obtain pesticide/herbicide certifications or other certifications as needed
  • Ability to work up to 16 consecutive hours and respond to emergency situations
  • Ability to reside within a defined driving time from assigned work location
