Job Summary


We are seeking an experienced Network Infrastructure Specialist to join our team at the City of Corpus Christi. This role will be responsible for providing top-notch network infrastructure and application support, as well as secondary support for our internal and external network.



Main Responsibilities

  • Work with network switches to connect computers, printers, and servers within the City's network.
  • Understand the different types of ethernet switches and their capabilities, managed and unmanaged.
  • Create networks and configure complex network ports.
  • Work on advanced switching operations including Data Center, Nexus, and WLCs.
  • Configure Layer 3 switching and core switch configuration.
  • Work with network routes to connect networks and create Layer 3 links.
  • Link computers and networks to the internet, on shared and private connections, and through all medium and circuit types.
  • Perform network design and documentation, advanced routing internal and external to the City network, and special projects.
  • Support the LAN/WAN infrastructure and administer the maintenance, support, and design of the City network.
  • Collaborate with service desk, change management, and others in a professional and efficient manner to complete tasks and issues.
  • Provide guidance to other IT Network Analysts and work on advanced network design and implementation.
  • Administer City internet, security appliance configuration, and call manager systems.
  • Maintain safety and technical knowledge, skills, and adaptability by keeping required licenses and relevant certifications current.
  • Prioritize tasks, assignments, and network projects to resolve network communication, data, and infrastructure issues.


Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:



  • An Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in a similar field.
  • CCNA Certification (Cisco Network Associate) within six months of hire.
  • CCNP, CCVP, CCSP, or equivalent certification preferred.
  • A valid driver's license (out-of-state candidates must obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days).
