Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Chief Engineer to join our team at Island Hospitality Management. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our hotel's facilities and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems, as well as other hotel equipment.
  • Conduct ongoing room preventative maintenance to ensure guest satisfaction and comfort.
  • Resolve maintenance problems, complaints, and work orders in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Perform carpentry and painting tasks, as well as drywall and carpet repair work, as needed.
  • Inspect property to identify potential and current needs, and ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Manage department expenditures to meet budget requirements, and solicit bids from contractors as needed.
  • Coordinate with local health, safety, fire, and building inspectors to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Maintain the pool area, including cleanliness and chemical content.
  • Perform exterior building maintenance, including lawn care and painting, as needed.
  • Supervise and schedule maintenance staff to ensure efficient and effective operation of the maintenance department.
Requirements
  • Highly motivated team player with strong initiative and desire for achievement.
  • Effective problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate, prevent, identify, and solve problems as necessary.
  • Ability to work well in stressful situations, and follow all safety procedures while working.
  • Professionalism and courtesy to guests at all times.
  • Prior hotel maintenance experience of at least 4 years or more is a plus.
  • Previous experience in management of maintenance/engineering, specifically electrical, plumbing, HVAC system, ventilation system, and carpentry.
  • Working knowledge and experience with swimming pool maintenance.
  • Experience ordering supplies and inventory.
