Sheet Metal Trainee

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Trainee to join our team at General Dynamics Information Technology. As a Sheet Metal Trainee, you will assist in the operation of CNC machinery, deburring parts, and learning the precision sheet metal trade.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist senior employees in operating CNC Punch Press, Waterjet Cutting Center, and Press Brakes to fabricate sheet metal products.
• Keep other employees in the department supplied with materials and tools.
• Cut sheet and blanks for shop machinery using hydraulic shears and cutting tools.
• Break-out parts off Punch Press and Omax Waterjet.
• Clean work areas, machines, and equipment.
• Deliver parts to other departments and areas of the facility.

Requirements:

• 1+ years of related experience.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Technical or vocational training preferred but not required.
• Understanding of shop math.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to operate power and hand tools.
• Ability to work within a motivated small team.
• Able to lift 50 pounds or more on a daily basis.
• US Citizen or US National.
