Clinical Laboratory Assistant

Genesis Prime Care is seeking a skilled Clinical Laboratory Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in collecting blood samples, providing information to callers, and performing various clinical and administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain patient blood samples from various body sites, adhering to principles of asepsis and considering age-related factors.
- Direct or conduct customers to the appropriate person or department.
- Process specimens for testing, referral, or storage.
- Perform limited clinical tests.
- Pick up samples and deliver reports to offsite clients.
- Access computer terminals for data entry or information retrieval.
- Collate reports for files, data processing, and medical records.
- Answer telephones and provide information to callers or route to the appropriate person.
- File reports and other records.
- Maintain stocks of expendable supplies.
- Send or deliver reports to the appropriate locations.
- Pick up and deliver mail.
- Instruct patients or responsible family members in collecting various body fluids, considering age-related factors.
- Make charges for requested tests.
Requirements:
- Ability to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to comply with all the Center's policies and procedures.
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients and provide competent care.
- Regular attendance at unit meetings and in-services.
- Maintenance of applicable licensure and certifications.
- Completion of mandatory educational requirements.
- Completion of competency and skills assessments.
- Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
- Ability to document alpha and numeric values to conform to lab standards.
- Ability to speak extemporaneously on various subjects.
- Use of logical thinking and personal judgment to perform clinical and office tasks.
- Decision-making based on personal judgment and company policy.
- Following instructions without close supervision.
- Clear and accurate communication.
- Planning of work and sometimes the work of others.
- Ability to use office equipment, including computers, fax machines, telephones, and copiers.
Credentials and Experience:
- Primary Source Verification Required.
- High school graduate preferred, or an equivalent level of education and experience.
- Experience in the field required.
