Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Veterinarian to join our team at Inotiv. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for providing veterinary health care for laboratory animals, advising on animal care and maintenance, and training technicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Animal Health and Welfare: Develop and maintain knowledge and expertise in laboratory animal science and other relevant specialist disciplines.
  • Reporting and Communication: Ensure timely and accurate reporting of animal health, behavior, and wellbeing issues to the Attending Veterinarian and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee.
  • Veterinary Guidance: Provide guidance to animal caretakers, managers, scientists, and other stakeholders on the implementation of the three Rs.
  • Culture of Care: Engender and support a culture of care while promoting and demonstrating professional standards.
  • Veterinary Clinical Services: Provide veterinary clinical services, including herd health, biosecurity practices, acclimation, conditioning, sanitation practices, pest control program, and surgery as needed.
  • Expertise and Guidance: Provide expertise and guidance on animal transportation, procurement, nutrition, necropsy, behavior, drug storage, preventative medicine, and animal health and welfare.
  • Animal Health Monitoring: Provide expertise and practical guidance with regard to animal health monitoring programs.
  • Emergency Coverage: Provide continuous coverage for the site, including after-hours/weekend/holiday emergency veterinary care on a rotating basis.
  • Education and Training: Contribute veterinary scientific expertise as needed for education and training programs for animal care employees, supervisors, managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Surgical Facilities: Provide veterinary oversight, expertise, and coverage as indicated for the surgical facilities, including developing new surgical models and providing guidance on current best practices in surgical procedures and anesthesia.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Provide input regarding maintaining relevant local, state, and federal veterinary and animal-related regulatory compliance.
  • IACUC Meetings: Participate in IACUC meetings as required.
  • Support to Other Sites: Provide veterinary support to other sites upon request.
  • Quality and Safety: Promote and comply with quality procedures as well as health and safety procedures.
Qualifications
  • Veterinary Degree: Possess a veterinary degree.
  • State Licensure: Maintain state veterinary licensure, DEA, and federal accreditation (category 2) through continuing education credits.
  • Experience: Have sufficient time in private practice or laboratory animal medicine to gain competency in veterinary herd health, clinical medicine, and surgery skills.
  • Experience in Audits or Inspections: Experience carrying out audits or inspections is preferred.
  • Specialty Board Certification: ACLAM diplomat or other specialty board certification is eligible.
  • Animal Production or Surgery Experience: Animal production, surgery, anesthesia, or other related further experience or qualification in the veterinary field is desirable.
