About the Role

We are seeking an Environmental Sustainability Specialist to join our team at Clean Earth, a leading provider of environmental services with over 60 facilities throughout the U.S. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and sustainable management of hazardous waste materials.

Responsibilities
  • Review profiles submitted by sales/customer service to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Provide regulatory review of EPA, DOT, and State designations
  • Ensure waste material is acceptable within limitations of Part B permit and seek alternative options if not
  • Obtain approved outbound profile(s) to ultimate disposal site(s)
  • Evaluate waste stream(s) (profile) for most cost-effective treatment option or customer-requested treatment
  • Pursue recycle (green options) for traditional streams
  • Assess best method of handling delivered waste considering treatment, labor, material, equipment, and transportation costs
  • Determine final assignment of process code directly or through supervision of lab personnel
  • Attend and participate in sales meetings
  • Nurture working relationships between sales and operations
  • Pursue and evaluate new treatment facilities and technologies for potential cost reduction and sustainability
  • Assist in training technicians and lab personnel on price points and process codes
  • Work with laboratory to convey analytical changes and ensure samples move through the lab in allotted time
  • Routinely audit shipments for routing compliance and load optimization
  • Verify and compare actual transportation costs to standard cost model monthly
  • Participate in national, regional, and local bids by assisting with coding and costing
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and/or Biology with a Chemistry focus
  • Industry experience in waste management
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2-4 years Materials Management or Approvals Management experience at a Treatment, Storage, Disposal Facility
  • EPA, DOT, and state regulations knowledge
  • Operating permits and Waste Analysis Plans understanding
  • Waste treatment technologies and available service providers awareness
  • Industry experience of 5+ years Hazardous waste management
  • HAZWOPER certification

Salary

The estimated salary for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience.
