Healthcare Assistant Job Summary
As a certified nursing assistant, you will provide basic patient care, monitor vital signs, and ensure patient comfort and safety within a healthcare facility. You will work closely with nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals to support patient well-being.
Responsibilities
1. Provide direct patient care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and toileting.
2. Assist patients with mobility by transferring them in and out of beds, chairs, or wheelchairs.
3. Take and record vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, respiration rate, and blood pressure.
4. Assist in implementing care plans developed by licensed nurses.
5. Observe and report any changes in patients' conditions to the nursing staff.
6. Respond to patient calls and requests for assistance promptly and courteously.
7. Maintain a clean and organized patient environment, including changing linens and tidying patient rooms.
8. Follow proper infection control procedures to prevent the spread of illnesses.
9. Assist with the transportation of patients within the facility as needed.
10. Provide emotional support to patients and their families.
Requirements
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Successful completion of a state-approved nursing assistant training program.
3. Current certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of employment.
4. CPR certification may be required.
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
7. Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards patients.
8. Physical stamina to perform tasks that require standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
