About the Role:

The Bishop Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing is seeking an experienced RN Educator to join our skilled nursing facility in Syracuse, NY. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing educational needs, employee health, and orientation processes to ensure compliance and top-notch customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead staff development programs that meet regulatory mandates, focusing on safety, body mechanics, infection control, and hazardous infectious materials.
  • Maintain educational practices by coaching, counseling, and participating in disciplinary processes, while planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Stay updated on professional knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Record and document educational activities, attendance, and responses.
  • Report on active projects, reactions, and progress daily, weekly, and monthly.
  • Participate in QAPI meetings and projects.
  • Assist the Director of Quality and/or Director of Nursing in planning, coordinating, and implementing staff programs and services.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist with data collection for assessment and evaluation purposes.
  • Consult with and inform the Director of Quality and/or Director of Nursing as needed.
  • Foster good inter- and intra-departmental relationships and interact effectively with all internal and external customers.
  • Establish close contact with employees on disability or workers' compensation, their physicians, and facilitate their earliest possible return to work.
  • Review incident reports and OSHA reports involving employees injured at work and coordinate education and loss prevention programs with the safety program.
  • Provide annual tuberculosis screening for volunteers and direct follow-up procedures for positive testing.
  • Administer Hepatitis B vaccines and Mantoux (TB skin tests) to contracted agencies and individuals under the direction of the Director of Nursing.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Nurse Educator in Long Term Care.
  • A current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  • Previous experience working in a long-term care setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively educate and coach.
  • CPR certification required; CPR trainer certified or willing to become one.
  • Training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
  • The ability to interact, educate, coach, and communicate with diverse individuals in a courteous, tactful, and effective manner.
  • Highest ethical standards regarding discretion and confidentiality.
  • An abiding commitment to basic ethical and legal principles.
  • Knowledge of emergency preparedness, safety, fire, disaster, OSHA, and infection control procedures.
  • Ability to handle required record-keeping tasks.

Compensation:

This role offers a competitive salary of $80,000 - $90,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience, plus a $3,000 sign-on bonus. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.
