Job Summary:

The Fleet Mechanic will be responsible for repairing and maintaining a variety of makes and models of passenger automobiles, motorcycles, trucks, road building machines, and assorted motorized heavy equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive repair, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Repair and maintain vehicles, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension systems
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues, including electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Work with minimal supervision, using initiative and resourcefulness to complete tasks efficiently
  • Collaborate with other mechanics and technicians to ensure timely completion of repairs and maintenance tasks
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus completion of an approved automotive/truck mechanic apprenticeship program
  • Considerable experience in progressively responsible motor vehicle equipment repair work
  • Valid Florida commercial driver's license (Class B or higher)
  • Good knowledge of engine and chassis units, as well as general repair work practices
  • Ability to make repairs and adjustments to automotive and heavy equipment
  • Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting, bending, and working in a fast-paced environment
