Job Summary

The Southeast Michigan Community Alliance, a private-public partnership, aims to support local businesses by retaining employees. The Employment Success Coach is responsible for working one-on-one with employees at various employer sites, identifying barriers such as transportation, childcare, and housing, and finding resolutions to these issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a coordinated schedule with BRN member employers at multiple locations, accommodating varying work shifts.
  • Provide resources, including flyers and websites, to employees.
  • Present the program to employees in collaboration with BRN employers.
  • Schedule appointments with BRN employees as needed, assessing their needs to determine eligibility for assistance.
  • Work with BRN employees to identify solutions to employment issues, provide case management, and monitor progress.
  • Determine eligibility for program assistance, maintain employee files, and keep current records of social services available to employees.
  • Arrange for service procurement with third-party providers, assist employees in completing applications, and provide emergency assistance when necessary.
  • Produce reports and updates to the Lead Success Coach monthly or as requested, demonstrating efforts to improve processes and customer service.

Requirements:

All SEMCA team members are expected to be technically competent and committed to continuous skill development. For this position, we require:

Required Qualifications:

  • An associate degree in Social Work, Career Counseling, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in human or community service, with a preference for those with at least 2 years of experience in human services or social work.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with staff, employees, management, referral sources, and the public.
  • The capacity to analyze problems and propose effective solutions.
  • Strong business and professional interpersonal skills for working with businesses and employees.
  • Familiarity with local community resources.
  • Self-motivation, organization, multitasking, and prompt follow-up skills.
  • Proficiency in Adobe and Microsoft Office, familiarity with WordPress CMS, and excellent customer service skills.
  • Experience with employer and community engagement/outreach.
  • Comfortable speaking in front of large audiences and able to provide own transportation.

Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $55,000 per year

Location: Southeast Michigan Area

This role requires sufficient mobility to work in a normal office setting, use standard office equipment, have vision to read printed materials on an LCD screen and smartphone, hearing and speech sufficient to communicate in person and over the telephone.
