Schedule and Work Environment

The Mental Health Specialist works in a variable schedule, every other weekend, from 9AM to 1930PM, providing patient care in a variety of job duties under the direct supervision of the Social Work Supervisor, RN, or the Mental Health Professional, or the inpatient Unit Manager or Director.

Responsibilities

As a member of the inpatient unit team, the Mental Health Specialist will work with other caregivers to provide patient care, including:

  • Providing emotional support and counseling to patients and their families
  • Assisting with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and feeding
  • Monitoring patient behavior and reporting any changes to the healthcare team
  • Participating in treatment planning and implementation
Requirements

To be successful in this role, the Mental Health Specialist must have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association certification
  • At least one year of experience in an acute or residential inpatient psychiatric facility in a similar role
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in an adult psychiatric environment is preferred.
