Job Description

Elgin Country Club is seeking a skilled Dishwasher/Prep Cook to join our team. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment, ensuring that all dishes and utensils are properly cleaned and stored, and assisting with food preparation duties as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and transport soiled dishes from dining areas to the kitchen
  • Ensure that soiled dishes are stacked properly for efficient washing
  • Mix and apply liquid soap, and immerse sponges in the solution
  • Clean and rinse dishes and flatware to remove dirt and debris
  • Place washed dishware and flatware on drying racks and dry with a cloth
  • Load soap and water into dishwashers and operate them according to manufacturer instructions
  • Remove washed dishes from the dishwasher and arrange for drying if necessary
  • Stack dishes properly in cupboards and maintain kitchen work areas
  • Sweep the kitchen floor and take out the trash
  • Sanitize the kitchen floor and perform preventative maintenance on dishwashers and ovens
  • Mop stockrooms and report any hazardous situations to the kitchen or maintenance manager
  • Ensure that all dish-cleaning equipment and supplies are stocked properly
  • Assist kitchen staff with food preparation duties as needed

Requirements:

  • Excellent critical thinking and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a hot, humid environment and on your feet for 8-hour shifts
  • No experience required (we're willing to train)
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Ability to operate industrial machinery and carry loads up to 20 lbs

Working Conditions:

  • 29-32 hours per week
  • Weekends and holidays required
  • Day and night shifts
  • One location

Pay and Benefits:

  • Pay: $15.50 per hour
