Resident Engineer

Gedeon GRC Consulting is seeking a highly skilled Resident Engineer to oversee the inspection, supervision, and control of performance on our infrastructure construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in preconstruction meetings, site visits, and evaluate existing conditions to ensure contract requirements are met.
  • Advise the Engineer-In-Charge of deficiencies, inconsistencies, or conflicts in plans and specifications.
  • Compile information on existing site conditions, including taps, services, and utility as-built.
  • Review and forward preconstruction engineering reports as necessary.
  • Meet with contractors to identify and resolve project-related issues, including interpretation of contract requirements.
  • Review and evaluate contractor's proposed progress schedule, monitor conformance, and recommend corrective action.
  • Supervise and perform construction inspection operations to secure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Participate in substantial completion and prior inspections, prepare final punch lists, and recommend acceptance of the work.
  • Monitor performance and recommend default actions if necessary.
  • Supervise and control the taking of measurements, surveys, photographs, and television inspections.
  • Take action to prevent or correct hazardous conditions that may endanger the health or safety of the public and/or workers.
  • Maintain daily diaries and other applicable DDC Standard Records for project-related activities.
  • Initiate the preparation of field memorandums, letters, accident reports, community inquiries, and complaints.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of five years of experience with construction inspection and management on infrastructure construction projects.
  • NYS Professional Engineer (P.E.) and ASCE Grade V certification.
  • Ability to become familiar with contract requirements, site conditions, and special provisions.
  • Understanding of agency policies, procedures, and Infrastructure's Standard Construction Operating Procedures (SCOP's).
  • Knowledge of the Construction Industry dealing with state and local agencies in New York on projects dealing with construction or repair of highways, bridges, tunnels, and other structures.
  • Strong knowledge of business and management principles involved in resource allocation and coordination of people and resources.
  • Extremely organized and detailed-oriented, with the ability to maintain accuracy while handling multiple requests in a growing company environment.
  • Proficiency in Site Manager, AutoCAD, and other project management software.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
