Job Summary:

The Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services seeks a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Administrative Assistant to join our Regional Legal Services Department. As a key member of our team, you will provide complex legal secretarial support to our attorneys, including regional and guardianship work. Your expertise will be essential in assisting with case management, tracking assignments and cases, maintaining files and calendars, and coordinating hearings and filings.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist attorneys with case management and tracking assignments and cases using databases and automated systems.
Maintain files, calendars, and case logs, and redact confidential information as needed.
Coordinate and docket cases for hearings, and file and e-file pleadings and documents.
Develop and maintain record-keeping and filing systems for guardianship matters, including subpoenas and open record requests.
Gather and compile materials and transmit documents for various projects for attorneys.
Provide general information, route calls, and take messages as appropriate, and review and process mail.

Requirements:

Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate complex administrative and legal issues verbally and in writing.
Ability to maintain effective relationships with internal and external contacts.
Knowledge of legal practices and terminology.
Ability to interpret policies, rules, regulations, and laws.
Ability to multi-task and develop and maintain systems to track multiple assignments and deadlines.

Working Conditions:

This position requires daily contact with internal and external contacts, and the ability to understand and explain policies and procedures of the agency. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
