The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia School of Medicine is seeking a faculty psychologist in Pediatric Psychology and Behavioral Health to provide clinical services and education in Neurodevelopmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. Responsibilities will include:
  • Providing evidence-based outpatient assessment and intervention for youth with neurodevelopmental disabilities, neuromuscular disorders, intellectual disability, acquired brain injury, feeding disorder, medical complexity, and comorbid diagnoses
  • Offering consultation to medical and interprofessional teams
  • Teaching medical fellows, residents, and medical students
  • Participating in departmental and health system committees and continuing education offerings

Candidates must possess a PhD or equivalent from an APA-accredited program, have completed an APA-accredited internship, be licensed or license-eligible in Virginia, demonstrate cultural humility, and be skilled in interprofessional practice in a complex, academic medical environment. Post-doctoral experience in neurodevelopmental and behavioral pediatrics is preferred. The new faculty member will be expected to obtain board certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology once eligible.

Pediatric Psychology and Behavioral Health provides clinical service and behavioral health education for the Department of Pediatrics and UVA Health Children's Hospital. The Section currently is comprised of six pediatric and child clinical psychologists and is rapidly expanding with expectations to double in the next year. This presents us with a remarkable opportunity to expand our team. Psychologists work closely with pediatrician colleagues, fellows, nurse practitioners, nurses, and multi-disciplined allied health staff. Our pediatric psychologists and neurodevelopmental and behavioral pediatric colleagues have outstanding working relationships with providers in the community as well as with other pediatric subspecialists and colleagues in other areas of the UVA Health System.

The University of Virginia Medical Center and Children's Hospital are located adjacent to the main university grounds of the University of Virginia. UVA Health Children's serves youth and families from Charlottesville and extensive surrounding rural areas including many refugee and immigrant communities.
