Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Librarian Assistant to join our team at the Fayetteville Public Library. This role will provide exceptional support to patrons, assist with library operations, and contribute to the overall success of our library services.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service to patrons, responding to their queries, and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist with daily library operations, including checking out and returning materials, processing holds, and maintaining shelves.
  • Support the development and implementation of programs and services for adults, youth, and children, including event planning, promotion, and execution.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to achieve team goals, share knowledge, and provide support as needed.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the library's collection, including weeding, shelving, and processing new materials.
  • Perform various administrative tasks, such as answering phones, responding to emails, and completing reports.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and stay up-to-date with industry trends.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field, such as library science, education, or customer service.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with library software and systems.
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods, with occasional bending, stooping, and walking.

Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience.
