Safety Specialist

The Safety Specialist will collaborate with the Safety Director daily to create strategies and policies related to the safety and well-being of occupants and employees for the entire facility and grounds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise with all departments to review and ensure safety-related policies and procedures are in good standing and being enforced.
- Ensure compliance with all code requirements by Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ's) including OSHA, local Fire and Building Department officials, etc.
- Maintain proper records for all AHJ's and meet with their representatives as needed to review records and policies.
- Conduct Company Safety meetings as dictated by code.
- Be highly visible with all staff on a daily basis, interacting with individuals observing safe work practices and correcting unsafe work or work areas, including issuance of Safety Violations and following up with corrective activities with department heads and employees as needed.
- Conduct injury investigations, including reviewing accident and injury reports to identify trends and common hazards, and performing follow-up site inspections to verify corrections of hazardous conditions.
- Conduct Safety training per OSHA and other regulatory agency requirements, including coordinating training with Department Training Managers and train property trainers.
- Oversee consultants performing safety services during various days and shifts.
- Review temporary and transient events for hazards, coordinate any corrections with management, and investigate inquiries from public agency regulators and communicate to the Director of Safety.
Requirements:
- Minimum two years administrative/safety-related experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to speak in front of large groups of people.
- Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must be fluent in English.
