Job Overview

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of commodities, materials, and supplies. This position requires strong analytical skills to evaluate quotations, negotiate prices, and terms with suppliers. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills to interface with internal stakeholders and external vendors.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Purchasing: Secures quotations, analyzes pricing, negotiates terms with suppliers, and makes recommendations based on cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Order Management: Initiates purchase orders for parts, services, and special tools with suppliers.
  • Quality Assurance: Arranges for submission and inspection of sample products as required; coordinates closely with plant engineering to ensure timely execution of product sourcing activities.
  • Supplier Qualification: Assists in qualifying new sources and resolving production, design, quality, and delivery problems.
  • Internal Collaboration: Interfaces with inter-company departments, including Engineering, Quality Control, Production, and Stock Room.
  • Reporting: Determines actions needed on move-up and MRP reports daily.
  • Vendor Management: Interfaces with vendors to move-up, delay, and/or check on status of parts on order.
  • Administrative Tasks: Maintains costs, information, and reports with the Accounting Department.

Educational/Training Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related area is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of related work experience in purchasing within a manufacturing environment is necessary.
  • Experience in ERP environments and/or international sourcing is highly desirable.
  • Electronic components purchase experience is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office are required.
  • Able to travel occasionally.
  • Intermediate Internet skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Estimated Salary Range: $65,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
