Overview

The Regents of the University of California on behalf of their Los Angeles Campus seeks a highly skilled Strategic Leader for Alumni Engagement and Partnerships to lead its alumni engagement efforts. As a key member of the UCLA Alumni Affairs team, this individual will play a critical role in developing and implementing strategies that foster meaningful connections between UCLA and its vast network of 660,000 alumni.

About the Role

This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic organization that values innovation, collaboration, and community engagement. Reporting directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor, the Chief of Staff, Alumni Engagement will oversee staff and program operations across various teams, including Alumni Communities & Engagement Pathways, Professional Programs & Services, Diversity Programs & Initiatives, Affinity Networks & Leadership Development, and Alumni Career Engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic plans to enhance alumni engagement, volunteer participation, and fundraising efforts
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement programs that promote campus-wide initiatives and community building
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including alumni, faculty, staff, and external partners
  • Analyze data and metrics to inform decision-making and optimize program effectiveness
  • Supervise and mentor staff to ensure high-quality work products and meet deadlines
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in higher education and alumni relations

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:

  • A minimum of ten years of experience in alumni engagement, program management, or a related field
  • Extensive knowledge of UCLA's short- and long-term strategic plans, vision, goals, objectives, programs, infrastructure, and achievements
  • Advanced knowledge of current affairs and issues in higher education
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal and leadership abilities
  • Ability to analyze complex information, think critically, and make informed decisions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications
