Job Overview

National Power, LLC is seeking a skilled Generator Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance and repair team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of our generator sets and electrical equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on generators and parallel systems, including troubleshooting and repair of Automatic Transfer Switches.
  2. Conduct diesel or gaseous engine troubleshooting and repair, including ignition components, injection systems, and valve adjustments.
  3. Perform load bank testing on generator(s) to ensure units are in proper operating conditions and meet applicable code requirements.
  4. Assist other technicians with large multi-person jobs or troubleshooting complicated issues.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma required; Associate degree in an electrical/mechanical related field preferred.
  • Current Generac Power Systems certification preferred.
  • US Air Force Electrical Power Production Specialist, US Navy Electrician's Mate, or Generator and/or UPS field service technician preferred.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to provide verbal/written reports of job status, repair recommendations, and equipment/supplies needed.
  • Ability to account for time spent on jobs and travel.
  • Valid driver's license and excellent driving record.
  • Good computer skills and comfort with Microsoft software, including Internet Explorer, Word, Excel, and Adobe (PDF's).
  • Ability to work from home and ensure proper vehicle maintenance, required parts inventory, and security of Company property.
  • Strong problem-solving skills during emergency situations or situations with limited resources.
  • Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, look for ways to improve and promote quality, and apply feedback to improve performance.
Work Conditions and Physical Demands
  • May be required to work in various weather conditions.
  • Frequently work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Lifting and carrying heavy objects, up to 75lbs, may be required.
  • Ascending or descending ladders, scaffolding, stairs, ramps, and the like may be required.
