Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles.
- Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Prepare and administer prescribed medications, and record patient medical information and vital signs.
- Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, and interpret and record electronic displays.
- Initiate corrective action whenever the patient displays adverse symptomatology.
- Provide bedside care for a wide variety of medical patients, including pre- and post-surgery patients.
- Initiate patient education plan, as prescribed by physician, and teach patients and significant others how to manage their illness/injury.
- Perform other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current nursing license, in good standing with the State licensing board.
- Minimum of one (1) year Med/Surge experience.
- Cognitive skills as related to the position.
- Current ACLS certification required.
- PALS preferred.
Working Conditions:
As a Med-Surg Nurse, you will work in a fast-paced environment with a heavy caseload. You will spend considerable time walking, bending, stretching, and standing, and may face hazards from exposure to chemicals and infectious diseases.
