Job Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of experience designing electrical power distribution infrastructure, fire alarm systems, lighting systems, both interior and exterior, and lighting controls. Key responsibilities include:
  • Preparing calculations for feeders, services, short circuit, and transformer size.
  • Designing building electrical distribution, fire alarm, and security systems.
  • Performing on-site surveys of existing electrical equipment.
  • Determining schedules and details required for projects and reviewing them with project engineers.
  • Attending job meetings as required.
  • Ensuring the flow of information between disciplines.
  • Assisting in writing reports and feasibility studies.
  • Supporting the development of electrical standards.
  • Preparing cost estimates and specifications.

Requirements and Qualifications
The basic requirements for this position include:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5-8 years of experience in designing electrical power distribution infrastructure, fire alarm systems, lighting systems, both interior and exterior, and lighting controls.
  • Familiarity with short circuit, arc flash coordination, design of interior and exterior lighting, and photometric calculations.
  • Background in commercial and healthcare facilities strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, including energy conservation.
  • PE and EIT certification preferred.
  • LEED accreditation preferred.
  • Proficiency with Revit design software, with at least 1 year of formal design use.
  • General understanding of Microsoft Office.
