Job Description: Scale OperatorThe Scale Operator plays a vital role in ensuring efficient and accurate processing of scrap metal shipments. Key responsibilities include:
- Weigh and ticket incoming customers crossing the scale.
- Use Weighmaster software to accurately create tickets in a timely manner.
- Direct customers on and off the scales to ensure an even flow of traffic.
- Grade incoming scrap materials according to established guidelines.
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, excellent attention to detail, ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and capability to work independently as part of a team.
Required Skills and QualificationsIn addition to the above-mentioned skills, candidates must have at least one year of customer service experience and a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Prior experience in the scrap metal industry is preferred but not required.
Working ConditionsAbility to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, or snow) and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) are essential for this role. Flexibility to work varying hours, including evenings or weekends as needed, is also required.
