Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Clinical Access Coordinator to join our team at Highmark Health. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating patient access and creating a positive first impression of our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gather and prepare billing information for consults and testing at non-Epic facilities
  • Respond to CRM requests for appointments and balance cash drawers in Epic
  • Prepare deposit slips and deposit money into the bank, confirming deposits in Epic
  • Complete preregistration functions, including validating patient demographic information and verifying medical benefits and insurance
  • Collect copays and prior balances and post payment transactions
  • Obtain authorizations for office visits, testing, and procedures
  • Check patients in and out, register patients for billing not captured through Epic, and organize manual billing
  • Scan documents into EPIC and prepare charts for office visits
  • Proactively schedule and follow up with testing and manage follow-up reports
  • Answer phones, take messages, and forward calls, and call patients to relay information
  • Work charge review and claim edit workqueues and proactively manage wait lists
  • Schedule procedures with patients and hospitals and advocate for MY CHART sign-up
  • Collect, sort, distribute, and prepare incoming and outgoing mail, and provide information about services, physicians, and facilities
  • Communicate with physicians and mid-level providers regarding schedules and patient issues
  • Order supplies to maintain inventory and support medical record requests
  • Identify and report office issues to supervisors
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED, or one to three months of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • One previous year of related experience, preferably in a medical setting, financial services setting, or a demanding customer service environment
  • Experience operating a PC and using software applications
