Job Summary:

The Catering and Nutrition Support Specialist provides personalized meal service to hospitalized patients of all ages, including those who are NPO or on tube feedings. This role involves direct patient contact to assist with bedside meal selections, dietary needs, and special requests using an electronic device.

The Catering and Nutrition Support Specialist is responsible for serving meals to patients, stocking the nourishment room, tray assembly, delivery and pick up, cleaning and clearing patient dishware.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalized meal service to hospitalized patients
  • Assist with bedside meal selections and dietary needs
  • Serve meals to patients and maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Stock the nourishment room and maintain inventory
  • Deliver and pick up trays, and clean and clear patient dishware

Requirements:

  • Basic food handling and customer service skills
  • Ability to understand diets and food allergies
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 1-year previous food service experience working directly with customers, clients or patients, preferably in an acute care setting
  • Proficiency in the use of computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook Email, API, Meditech, and Computrition
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and work effectively in a team environment

Working Conditions:

  • Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Risk Category B - MAY have exposure to blood or body fluids when performing tasks

Reporting Relationship:

The Catering and Nutrition Support Specialist reports to the Patient Services Manager and receives oversight and direction from the Diet Clerk, Patient Service Supervisors, Director, and the Clinical Nutrition Manager.
