Urban Planning Specialist

This is a professional-level planning position responsible for administering the development review process for Monroe County. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of land use controls and the ability to interpret and apply laws, rules, and regulations governing land use. The employee reports directly to and works under the general supervision of an administrative-level planner. The role involves field visits, including nights and weekends, and requires strong communication and organizational skills.

Requirements
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree in urban planning, geography, environmental sciences, geology, or landscape architecture
- Three years of paid full-time or part-time equivalent research or planning experience at a professional level in any of the following: housing, transportation, physical planning, land use planning, environmental planning, or comprehensive planning
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in urban planning, geography, environmental planning, environmental sciences, geology, landscape architecture, or a closely related field
- One year of experience as defined above
