Job Summary

The Phlebotomist is responsible for the collection of specimens from patients. This role requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, as well as excellent communication skills to interact with patients, physicians, and hospital staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples from patients using standard venipuncture or skin puncture techniques.
• Maintain phlebotomy supplies and ensure they are restocked for all shifts.
• Perform clerical duties, including data entry and inventory management.
• Communicate effectively with coworkers, hospital personnel, and physicians.
• Assist in the specimen processing and filing, as well as deliver specimens to the lab as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months of experience in blood specimen collections, with 3 years preferred.
• Current CA Certified Phlebotomy Technician License.
• Proficient in using the Lab Information System (LIS) and computer applications.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers from the American Heart Association.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card within 90 days of hire or requirement notification.
