Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced ERP Programmer to join our team in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Progress 4GL/OpenEdge programming and experience with QAD ERP systems.

Key Responsibilities:

1. ERP System Development

  • Develop complex Progress 4GL/OpenEdge applications for the QAD ERP environment
  • Lead the design and implementation of new features, modules, and customizations in the ERP system

2. Database Management

  • Perform advanced database design, tuning, and troubleshooting for Progress databases linked to the ERP system
  • Implement robust data backup and recovery procedures

3. System Integration and API Development

  • Lead initiatives to integrate the QAD ERP with various internal and external systems
  • Develop, test, and maintain APIs for efficient data exchange and system integration

4. Collaboration and User Support

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand department-specific requirements
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior developers and end-users

5. Continuous System Improvement

  • Proactively identify opportunities for system enhancements
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends in Progress programming and ERP technology

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Progress 4GL/OpenEdge programming
  • Deep understanding of ERP systems, including advanced modules and customization capabilities
  • Expertise in managing and optimizing Progress databases
  • Strong project management skills and excellent communication skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Master's degree in Information Systems or a related field
  • Advanced knowledge of QAD's .Net UI, Qxtend integration, and eB2.0 framework
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments and familiarity with cloud-based ERP solutions

Work Environment:

  • Office Based (On-Site, no remote work available)
  • Occasional travel to manufacturing sites for system deployment and user training
