The estimated salary for this position ranges from $50,000 to $70,000 annually, depending on experience and location.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Equipment Technician to join our team. As a Medical Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring safe delivery, providing setup, and educating customers on the use of home medical equipment.

Your duties will include:

  • Developing and maintaining working knowledge of current HME products and services offered by the company and all applicable governmental regulations.
  • Complying with all applicable company policies and procedures.
  • Educating customers in proper use and care of respiratory and HME equipment in a home setting.
  • Completing required documentation following equipment setup, delivery, or pickups as required.
  • Assisting with customer equipment problems under emergency conditions.
  • Processing all orders in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Promoting services and products to referral sources in the community as appropriate.
  • Developing basic reimbursement knowledge and completely documenting all information necessary to ensure reimbursement for all appropriate equipment, products, and services.
  • Assisting with implementation of quality improvement programs to meet company policies.
  • Maintaining home oxygen systems through regularly scheduled visits to customers.
  • Safely driving and maintaining company vehicles.
  • Performing patient assessments and re-assessments for patient care.
  • Performing routine preventative maintenance and simple repairs on equipment as required in accordance with company policies.
  • Reporting equipment hazards and/or product incidents as required in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Developing and maintaining working knowledge of current HME products and services offered by the company.
  • Assuming on-call responsibilities during non-business hours in accordance with company policy.
  • Retaining knowledge of and consistently adhering to procedures for the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), infection control, and hazardous materials handling.
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality and functioning within the guidelines of HIPAA.
  • Completing assigned compliance training and other educational programs as required.
  • Maintaining compliance with AdaptHealth's Compliance Program.
  • Responsible for cleaning equipment when assigned by supervisor or downtime allows, following the Branch Maintenance and Cleaning Guidelines.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Entry-level sales, customer service background essential.
  • One (1) year of Military, delivery driver with sales component, or healthcare technician experience preferred.
  • Senior level requires two (2) years of work-related experience and one (1) year of exact job experience.
  • A valid and unrestricted driver's license in the state of residence.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role requires:

  • The ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • The ability to stretch, bend, stoop, and crouch while performing moderate to heavy physical labor.
  • Long periods of sitting and driving.
  • A potentially stressful work environment due to fluctuating work activities and levels.
  • Exposure to unsanitary conditions in some home settings.
  • Exposure to hazardous materials, loud noise, extreme heat/cold, direct, or indirect contact with airborne, bloodborne, and/or other potentially infectious pathogens.
  • Exposure to high-crime areas within the service community.
  • The ability to drive independently and travel as needed.
  • Occasional exposure to angry or irate customers.
  • The ability to access patient residences without assistance.
  • Mental alertness to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • The ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with customers, demonstrating empathy, compassion, courtesy, and respect for privacy.
