Maritime Liaison Specialist for Environmental Compliance

AIS, LLC is a national scientific services firm dedicated to supporting maritime activities that require certification of compliance with environmental regulations. We are seeking a highly skilled Maritime Liaison Specialist to monitor and document commercial fishing activity during offshore surveys and construction.
Salary and BenefitsThis full-time temporary position offers an hourly wage, paid meals, and lodging on vessel, as well as eligibility for benefits after meeting full-time requirements. The estimated annual salary for this role is $50,000-$70,000 based on industry standards and experience.
Job DescriptionThe primary function of the Maritime Liaison Specialist will be to serve as the primary point of contact between commercial fishing vessel representatives operating in the survey area and the survey team. The liaison will be responsible for mitigating and documenting any interaction between the survey operations and commercial fishing operations.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Current STCW Basic Safety Training (BST) or GWO/BOSIET training within the last 2 years
- Current CPR/First Aid certification
- Valid passport
- Ability to distinguish between various commercial fishing gear used in the US Atlantic
- Strong preference for those with experience working on commercial fishing vessels
- Familiarity with handheld GPS, ship plotter, single side band and VHF communications, and binoculars with reticules
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
The Maritime Liaison Specialist will work on a survey vessel, observing waters surrounding the platform/vessel for up to 4 hours at a time. The position requires the ability to live in confined quarters and tolerate stress. A physician's certification as fit for sea duty is required.
