Job Description

Job Title: Design Director

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Director to lead our design team in creating innovative and industry-leading design solutions. The successful candidate will have a strong passion for sports, culture, and design, with excellent communication and influencing skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Seasonal Design Direction: Develop the seasonal direction of the design according to market trends and overall design direction, ensuring consistency throughout products and ranges.
  • Lead Design Team: Lead and establish a team of Senior Design Leaders and Partners, maintaining and nurturing the design, material, and color direction with the design team, development, marketing, and the consumer.
  • Influence Design Teams: Influence both design teams developing current and future product initiatives across key categories based on direction from Senior Design Leaders and Partners.
  • Steer Conceptualization Process: Steer and drive the conceptualization process, managing a team towards objectives and implementing process changes.
  • Coach Team Members: Steer and coach team members and their creative processes, driving development of direct reports.
  • Present Strategies: Verbally present strategies with clarity and expertise, disseminating design strategy into design teams and x-functional teams.
  • Create Presentations: Create professional-level presentations of ideas, from loose sketches to detailed renderings to digital presentations.
  • Ensure Efficient Processes: Ensure efficient processes and communication between external and internal teams.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Design Software: Knowledge and use of Macintosh computer design software/systems (Photoshop, Illustrator, 3D rendering programs).

Requisite Education and Experience:

  • Undergraduate Level Design Education: Undergraduate level design education or combination thereof.
  • Solid Education and Advanced Experience: Solid education and advanced experience in the creative development of communication tools.
  • At Least 10 Years' Design Experience: At least 10 years' design experience in sporting goods/fashion industry on managerial level.
  • 3 Years Personnel Management Experience: 3 years personnel management experience.
  • Prior Direct Footwear Design Experience: Prior direct footwear design and collaboration/partnerships experience.
  • Proven Experience with Entire Design Process: Proven experience with the entire design process (project scope and time planning, design steps, production/execution of design solution, pre-press processes).
  • Passion for Adidas: Passion for adidas and its mission.

Anticipated Base Pay Range: The anticipated low and high end of the base pay range for this position is $185,000 to $212,750. Actual salary will be based on various factors, such as a candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and competencies, proficiency for the role.
