At Community Residences, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Resident Instructor to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and supportive environment for our clients.
Essential Job Functions:
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment, developing strategies to help clients cope with daily challenges and facilitate independent performance.
- Perform all job functions required, including lifting and transferring clients, and utilizing approved protective hold techniques to ensure safety.
- Implement Individual Plans of Care, documenting client progress and reporting any barriers to progress.
- Monitor medical, physical, and behavioral changes in clients, reporting changes to supervisors and documenting incidents.
- Administer medication to clients at prescribed times, following agency policy and regulatory standards.
- Assist with medical appointments, follow through on doctors' orders, and participate in meal planning and preparation.
- Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the house, properties, and vehicle, reporting repair needs to supervisors.
- Conduct yourself in a professional manner when interacting with clients, supervisors, coworkers, families, and community members.
- Participate in training opportunities, maintaining required training per agency policy and regulatory requirements.
- Provide accurate accounting of agency funds and client monies, adhering to confidentiality policies.
- Take clients on community outings, ensuring health and safety measures are followed.
- Familiarize yourself with CRI policies and procedures, ensuring compliance.
- Assist in developing positive neighborhood and community relationships.
Requirements:
- Demonstrate organizational ability, experience, and effective communication skills with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Demonstrate knowledge of educational and behavioral programs.
- Be willing to learn about current issues in the field of developmental disabilities.
- Communicate with people at various ability levels.
- Possess organizational abilities to implement programs and services enhancing individual learning.
- Be self-motivated.
- Be interested in improving the quality of life for individuals, household management, and teaching.
- Display patience, encouraging attitude, optimism, energy, communication skills, and a nurturing temperament.
- Have the ability to perform active work, both inside and outside of the program.
- Possess a valid CT driver's license and have a good driving record, with reliable transportation.
Education:
A high school diploma or GED and at least two years of experience in the field of Human Services are preferred. A Bachelor's degree in a related Human Services area, in addition to experience, is also preferred.
Work Schedule:
Saturday and Sunday, 6am-2pm, and Thursday, 3pm-10pm.
