The Respiratory Therapist will perform evaluations and administer respiratory care treatments in accordance with physician orders/protocols. Responsibilities include educating patients with cardiopulmonary disabilities, injuries, and/or diseases, assembling and checking equipment, collecting and evaluating clinical information, conducting therapeutic procedures, and evaluating patient response to respiratory care.

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, check, and identify malfunctions of equipment
  • Collect and evaluate additional pertinent clinical information
  • Conduct therapeutic procedures to achieve adequate ventilation
  • Evaluate and monitor patient response to respiratory care
  • Explain care plan, therapy, and goals to patient
  • Initiate, conduct, or modify respiratory care techniques in an emergency setting
  • Maintain records of communication
  • Perform procedures as listed in general and critical care competency checklist
  • Protect patient from nosocomial infection
  • Provide care within established scope of practice for Respiratory Therapists
  • Review data in patient record and recommend diagnostic procedures
  • Select and obtain equipment and assure cleanliness
  • Serve as a resource to others regarding complicated respiratory care cases or procedures
  • Provide in-service education to department

Requirements:

  • 2+ Years of Experience - Required
  • Adult Critical Care Experience - Required
  • Emergency Department Experience - Required
  • Neonatal / Pediatrics Experience - Required
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA) - Required
  • NRP & NBRC - Required
  • Cerner Experience - Required
  • Experience with all patient populations - Required
