Job Summary:

The Government Jobs Machinist Helper position is responsible for assisting Machinists in performing semi-skilled machine work, including setting up and operating various machine tools to produce and repair precision parts. This role involves troubleshooting faulty equipment and constructing small buildings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist Machinists in performing machine work and operating machine tools.
  • Troubleshoot faulty equipment and identify solutions.
  • Construct small buildings and assist in the maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Be knowledgeable of industry standard methods and practices of machining, mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, and the use, maintenance, and repair of tools and equipment used in the machine shop and in the field.
  • Have a strong aptitude for mechanical and construction work.

Working Conditions:
  • Work in a machine shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and other hazards.
  • May be required to work at heights or in confined spaces.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a machine shop or related field preferred.
