Job Summary

The Communications Technician I will be responsible for installing and maintaining telecommunications systems, including structured cabling, fiber optics, and low-voltage devices. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install work area outlets, modular furniture, and wall boxes
  • Route and terminate cables using fish tape and other methods
  • Perform pre-termination procedures, including organizing, forming, and dressing cables
  • Suspend and support cables using cable trays, J-hooks, and other equipment
  • Build closets, including mounting backboards, cross-connects, and patch panels
  • Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cable as required
  • Perform fire-stopping procedures on fire walls and install sleeves
  • Terminate low-voltage devices and complete all IES COMMERCIAL paperwork accurately and on time
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED equivalency
  • Minimum of zero to one year experience in telecommunications or a related technical field
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Basic construction industry knowledge preferred
  • Ability to meet Company minimum driving standards preferred
Working Conditions

The Communications Technician I will work in an outdoor or indoor construction work environment, requiring the ability to work at heights, off a ladder, and in confined spaces. The position also requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
