Job Description

This is a Full Time position with a regular schedule of Monday - Friday, 7am - 3:30pm. As a Histology Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Embedding, cutting, staining, and performing other tasks required to process tissue in the Histology lab
  • Performing necessary tests for each sample as required, following standard operating procedures
  • Accurately describing tissue samples
  • Operating all instruments and equipment according to accepted written procedures
  • Registering and processing cases in the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
  • Meeting acceptable turnaround time and productivity standards for the section
  • Recognizing testing errors or discrepancies and notifying appropriate personnel
  • Demonstrating proficiency in the use of the LIS and its application to all aspects of job-related functions

• Other job duties as required

Physical Job Requirements:

• Endurance (e.g. continuous typing, prolonged standing/bending, walking)

• Dexterity of hands and fingers

Education, Certification, Computer and Training Requirements:

• Associate's degree required

• 2-4 years experience required

• HT or HTL (ASCP) preferred

• Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing required

• Ability to use critical thinking skills; develop, plan, and organize successful projects required

• Ability to function autonomously and make independent decisions required
