Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Optometrist to join our medical group at Caton Hill Medical Center. As an Optometrist, you will be responsible for examining patients with a full range of visual problems, diagnosing visual diseases, disorders, and deficiencies, and prescribing treatment according to the laws of the State of Maryland, District, or Commonwealth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Examine patients using a full field of optometry instruments and techniques.
  • Diagnose and treat visual diseases, disorders, and deficiencies.
  • Prescribe and fit contact lenses.
  • Determine visual requirements of partially sighted patients.
  • Prescribe low-vision aids to aid low-vision patients.
  • Use diagnostic pharmaceutical agents to detect and diagnose ocular pathology.
  • Use examination techniques to determine ocular signs of systemic diseases and medications.
  • Refer patients to other appropriate Kaiser Permanente providers as needed.
  • Participate in departmental and educational meetings.
  • Consult with internal medicine, pediatrics, and ophthalmology on patient care issues.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of Optometry.
  • Optometrist License (Maryland) OR Optometrist License (Virginia) OR Optometrist License (District of Columbia).
  • Basic Life Support required at hire from American Heart Association.
  • National Provider Identifier required at hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an interdisciplinary health care environment.
  • Accredited residency in Optometry.
