Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physician (General) to join our team at the Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals (BHDDH) and Eleanor Slater Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and providing direct patient care, as well as maintaining standards of care and treatment for our medical service program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and provide direct patient care
  • Maintain standards of care and treatment
  • Plan, organize, and supervise the work of a staff of physicians and others engaged in patient care and treatment
  • Instruct staff physicians, residents, and students within the BHDDH/state healthcare system educational programs
Requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques in internal medicine/family medicine
  • Ability to detect, analyze, evaluate, and interpret symptoms of disorders/diseases
  • Ability to administer and/or prescribe appropriate medications, care, and treatment within their specialty field
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers and associates, patients and family members, nurses and other healthcare professionals, other agencies and institutions, community organizations, and the public
Education and Experience
  • Graduation from a medical school of recognized standing
  • Successful completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) approved residency in internal medicine or family medicine
Special Requirements
  • Must meet established requirements of the Rhode Island Department of Health to practice medicine in Rhode Island
  • Must hold an unrestricted license to practice medicine in Rhode Island
  • Must maintain these requirements as a condition of employment
